Vancouver, BC, June 3rd, 2021 – Starling Minds, a leading digital mental health platform, announces the appointment of Joanne Wiens as Starling’s Vice President of Sales. As the new Sales leader, Joanne will be responsible for accelerating Starling’s revenue, expanding into new markets, and continuing to establish the company as a market leader in digital therapy for major Canadian enterprises.
With over 20 years of experience in technology sales and management, Joanne has held leadership roles at early-stage startups, crown corporations, and large enterprises within the health, wellness, benefits and disability management sectors, including League, Homewood Health, and ICBC. She began her career in the insurance sector as a Rehabilitation Specialist with Sunlife, conducting evaluations in the field and assessing the claimant’s ability to return to work.
As organizations deal with the rising absence and disability costs associated with COVID-19, immediate, affordable, and effective mental healthcare has never been more critical.
“We know that traditional offerings like EAPs and other employee benefits aren’t enough and it’s leading to unmet therapy needs. We need a new system of mental health support that delivers immediate, affordable, effective mental healthcare that is easy-to-use and scalable in addition to human-guided support,” says Peter Oxley, CEO of Starling Minds. “Joanne’s deep knowledge of absence and disability management will play a key role in expanding our presence in the market and establishing us as a digital therapy leader. We are thrilled to have her join the Starling team.”
Joanne joins Starling alongside the recent key arrival of board member Tara McCarville, a Health Sector Leader in Canada, as the company continues to add strength to its leadership talent.
“Starling has grown to become one of the leading iCBT platforms in Canada, and I am excited to join the team and build on the organization’s strong foundation,” says Joanne Wiens, Vice President of Sales at Starling Minds. “The company is perfectly positioned to help large employers deliver immediate digital mental therapy when employees need it most.”
